Cataracts an aging change in the crystalline lens. With time the lens becomes yellow and cloudy and light cannot effectively pass through to the retina. Everyone eventually develops cataracts which is not a dangerous condition most of the time. Recent surgical techniques allow surgeons to efficiently remove the cataract and place an implant in the eye within 30 minutes.
